The Lord's Inheritance
We are the LORD's Inheritance. All those who have believed upon the Lord Jesus as their Savior are made new, and gathered unto the Lord as His people, he has set us free and clothed us in His own righteousness, but we are His, we belong to Him. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
But what does it mean that we are His Inheritance? Does it not mean that Christ has inherited us by His blood, by His sacrifice? "Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit THEY ARE HIS. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring." Malachi 2:15
We who belong to Jesus are the inheritance of The King, in flesh and in spirit we are HIS, His possession, His inheritance, His people! And why, dear friends, are a man and woman who belong to the LORD made one flesh? Because it is the King's Will, and His great Joy that His inheritance, His people, should increase greatly and abundantly, more than the stars in the sky or the sand on the seashore! "I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies," Genesis 22:17 This promise to Abraham is also a promise to all those who belong to the LORD, as His Inheritance, indeed His treasured possession: "And the LORD has declared this day that you are His people, His treasured possession as He promised, and that you are to keep all His commands." Deuteronomy 26:18
We do not serve or worship an abstract, ...an idea of faith,.... nor a grandfatherly figure who is far away from us and not oft remembered, No! But a Great King! Mighty in power, full of justice and truth, abundance, love, and life everlasting! From the very Beginning He has made known His Will by the command "Be fruitful and multiply" Genesis 1:28. Does a man plant a vineyard, but complain that it has born too many grapes? Or does a farmer destroy his olive trees so that they bear only 2 or perhaps 3 olives? No! Is it not written?:
"Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your sons will be like olive shoots
around your table. Thus is the man blessed
who fears the LORD." Psalm 128:3-4
Is it not the design; even the perverse desire of the Evil One to cut short and to destroy the LORD's inheritance? Is it not because he has hated the LORD's people, those made in the image of the LORD, that he has made war against Man from the beginning of Creation? Why should the people of God be complicit in their own enslavement, their own silent genocide? It was Christ our King who Himself said: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10 What does "Abundantly" mean? The dictionary definition for "Abundant" is:
1. present in great quantity; more than adequate; oversufficient: an abundant supply of water.
2. well supplied; abounding: a river abundant in salmon.
3. richly supplied: an abundant land.
"The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you." Deuteronomy 28:11
We are the LORD's Inheritance, we belong to Him, and we are not our own, to live our lives as we please in foolish pursuits and in luxury and carelessness!
