Marital Harmony and Birth Control
Recently I read a perverse article on Birth Control and Christianity which, to no surprise, condoned all forms of contraceptives which keep the sperm and egg from ever uniting. In this particular article, the author stated that the biggest concern with birth control in the Christian marriage is making sure a "decision" is "agreed upon by both husband and wife". How degenerate. This kind of thinking exemplifies the sickening degree of emasculation that is omnipresent in "modern Christianity". Instead of both husband and wife submitting to the Lordship of our King, we see a picture of a man stripped of all his leadership, coweringly discussing "if, or how many" children his wife and him want to have. Have we learned nothing from Adam? Nothing at all since the whole of mankind was plunged into darkness because of one man's failure to stand upon God's Holy Word, instead of upon our own foolish hearts? My heart anguishes and cries out within me, to think of all the wonderful little blessings that never could be, because of such selfishness and wickedness, such cowardice!
"Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body." Ephesians 5:22-30
The Enemy would have a woman believe she is an equal, even above her husband, but the King's Law tell us otherwise, and we are wise who heed it, David wrote about God's Holy Law in the Psalms, and by the Holy Spirit which dwelt in him he spoke these words:
"The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward." Psalm 19:7-11
What then is God's Law? Is it chains upon the soul, crafted only to drag us down, into the pit of despair? Only to the sinful soul, to show the wicked and wayward their need for Jesus, for His sacrifice and atonement, is it such. But look! David tells us that the Law was made to warn us, and that in keeping the Law is great reward! David's own life is a story of this, he sought to be close to the One who formed him, he meditated upon God's Word, the Royal Law! And as he stayed close, God blessed him with more abundance, strength and might, victory upon victory, as no king before him or after! Such is the lot of all who keep the commands and decrees of the King of kings!
Listen then, and I will show you what blessing and riches there are in keeping with the Divine Ordinance of marriage. God created man in His own image and likeness, and from the man he took a rib, from which He created woman, as a helper to the man. Do we really need to be reminded of how different a man and woman are created, not only in body, but in spirit as well? From the very beginning God created man with the RESPONSIBILITY of headship over the woman! Not to oppress and treat her harshly, but as a divinely-appointed covering and protection, both physical and spiritual, for the woman! Adam failed in his responsibility to keep the "Flesh of his own flesh" from disobeying God's Law, he turned from his divine calling as a leader, and instead he followed. Look around at this fallen world, and see the result of such error; death and destruction on every side.
Is it not written plainly for all to see in word and in spirit, in the bodies of men and women, as well as in His Holy Word?:
"Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring." Malachi 2:15
Therefore men and women, listen and heed the Word, which is life and life abundant to you and your descendants. Every desire of the LORD is that man and wife bring forth children to His name! He is the King, in His hand are good things, even little ones which is His very deepest heart's desire to bless you with! Therefore do not harden your hearts against Him, and in so doing grieve the Holy Spirit who bears witness to the verity of the Word within you! It is written:
"Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that day at Massah in the desert,
where your fathers tested and tried me,
though they had seen what I did.
For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways."
So I declared on oath in my anger,
"They shall never enter my rest." - Psalm 95:6-11
See then that those who continue on sinning against the Lord by willfully refusing to receive children, and taking the most precious gift of sexuality into their own hands to dabble with as they see fit, such are without excuse! Indeed to harden your heart against God is a fearful thing! To reject something so close to God's own heart as little children whom He longs to send to you, would be to heinously grieve the Holy Spirit!
Let us reject then that wicked fantasy of a man and woman discussing whether or not to have children, let us despise it as a foul thing that it is,....and let us instead embrace what is True, to partake of love as man and wife should, and to seek the blessings of God, with arms wide open, and with hearts made alive and full of love,...and be closer to God's own heart. For only in God's own heart can there be true marital harmony.
"Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them." Colossians 3:18-19
Therefore I challenge you, dare to obey the Word of God, and as you submit to Him more and more, in all that you do, such blessing and peace will come upon you in your marriage, such that you would not have thought possible. Husbands, dare to lead your wives, as men are created to do, in love and in strength and purpose, in gentleness, but in firmness and resolve, submitting to the Headship of Christ. Wives, dare to be submissive and respectful of your husbands,...and watch them grow in strength and leadership, and your admiration and love for them will grow exponentially,..and you will see that the LORD's ways truly are good,...and you and your household will be greatly blessed because of it. I promise you this, for the LORD has created it this way from the Beginning.
And then you will know,...then you will know that every Word of God is True, because He who has spoken it is True.
